The Six Must Have Bags You Need In Your Closet

IMG_8114

In life bags are essential, whether you’re into big shopper bags, crossbody bags or tiny clutches, they’re needed and appreicated. Growing up I watched Sex and the City and would study the bags Samantha, Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte would style each outfit with. I learnt whether or not you accessorised your outfit with jewellery, regardless of the size, a bag was essential. Through trial and error, I’ve narrowed down six different types of bags, we all need.

  1. The Cross Body

The crossbody bag is a must have because it’s so easy to wear & extremely comfortable. The best part is how versatile the bag is. You can use it both day & night; carry it into work, sling it over your shoulder for the day or tuck the strap into the bag and use it as a clutch for an impromptu night out! You can even wrap the strap round your waist and there you have a DIY bum bag! I have a couple of CrossBody bags and my go to store for buying them is MANGO.  I bought a Croc-effect CrossBody bag from Mango a few years ago, the quality is excellent, it was £25 and will always be in style. The Crossbody bag is definitely a must have in your closet.

  1. The Clutch

The Clutch is an icon in its own right, perfect for any occasion. We often complain about carrying around such big bags, but a clutch, forces you to go minimalistic, by packing the essentials. They come in so many different shapes, sizes and colours. They’re a low a maintenance bag, that I can’t get enough of. My go to bag colour is is black, but at the moment I’m really into Perspex. I love the clean, transparent look. I think my next purchase will be an Acrylic Perspex Clutch. You should be able to find these anywhere, ranging in price, but the one tagged is from Ebay. It comes in different colours and is so affordable!

  1. The Weekend Bag

The weekender bag, otherwise known as the duffle bag, is a piece you won’t regret buying. It has many uses aside from a weekend away bag like a diaper bag, a gym bag or a carry -on bag. These bags are so low maintenance, are constructed so sturdily that they are resistant to almost everything and age magnificently over time. When it comes to a weekend bag, I like something that has pockets (so I can find everything) and a lot of space! So, I would opt for something like this Large Landon Neoprene Carryall Duffel Bag. It comes with a cross body strap, an exterior slip pocket and an interior zip pocket, two shoe or water bottle pockets, a padded laptop sleeve, a removable Air Mesh top-zip pouch, a removable shoe bag and a stretch key leash. It also comes in four different colours, what more could you ask for in a weekend bag? Although this one is a splurge, I personally wouldn’t shy away from it as it will be a bag you use until the end of time. But if you don’t want to break the bank, you can find great ones in stores like TK/TJ Maxx like this Gino Ferrari one.

  1. The Structured Tote Bag

This bag is an essential for work, school, or to store the diapers in. These bags come in different sizes and the size you buy is completely dependent on how much you carry on a day to day basis. I would recommend buying a large structured tote if you carry tablets, laptops or heavy files or papers. The structured tote bags always come with an interior zip pocket, which you can put your essentials in like your phone charger, headphones, makeup or keys. If you carry around your basics such as a book, wallet, water bottle, phone I would opt for the medium size in this bag. These bags come in different shapes and colours, I would recommend buying it in the staple colours such as black, grey, brown or white, to prevent any clashing with your outfit. I’ve had a few of these bags, but the best quality and most affordable ones I find are always from H&M or Asos. Something like this ASOS DESIGN Croc Bonded Shopper Bag,is perfect for daily use.

  1. The Backpack

The backpack is easily one of the most essential bags out of this list. It’s a staple that you can carry everything in. They’re perfect for travelling, to use as a diaper bag, for school or just to have as a cute accessory. I always keep a medium sized one with me when I travel. I can fit all of my essentials in there, be practical and still look cute. I bought my backpack from SkinnyDip London, where you can find similar ones like this Quilted Black Backpack. SkinnyDip London also stock other amazing products such as lifestyle, beauty products, phone accessories, clothing and sunglasses.

  1. The Bum Bag

The Bum Bag is something I wasn’t very keen on, but over time I’ve warmed up to. They’re very practical for both a day or night out. They’re also available in different fabrics, colours, prints shapes and sizes. More often than not, these bags come with an adjustable strap that can be worn by everyone of every shape & size (inclusivity come thruuuuuu). If you don’t need to carry too much, definitely opt for one of these bags, or if you don’t like carrying a clutch but need something small…. The Bum Bag is the answer.  I love the variety of styles in these bags, which is why I picked out a few. For a day out to bring an outfit like jeans and a tee to life, I would wear a simple, Black PU Rectangle Bum Bag like this one from Pretty Little Thing. For an evening out, I would wear a Brown Snake Belted Bum Bag, like this one, also from Pretty Little Thing to snatch that waist and add some colour to an all black outfit.

There you have it, the six essential bags you need in your closet right now. Hope you enjoyed reading, see you in the next post.
