Hey everyone, Welcome back to another episode of our travel series! Los Angeles was our third stop, and I just have to say it was one of our favourite cities to visit. Since I was little girl, I used to dream about living in LA or at least visiting someday. I just loved the vibe out there super chilled – K.
We spent 4 days here, there is so much to see and do but we did the main things every tourist does when they first visit LA. We thought we’d share our experience and tips with you guys!
We rented a car from Vegas and drove to LA; the drive was so nice and scenic it took us 4 hours to get there. We rented from a company called Fox rent a car, it was the cheapest company we found and the lady was kind enough to give us an upgrade because I think she looked at the car we had and then the amount of suitcases and was like let me just help these girls out ha-ha. We had so much luggage because we left university and travelled before heading back to the UK. Would definitely recommend if you are looking to rent a car out there, very reliable we had no problems with the car! We stayed at the Ramada Burbank Hotel which was right off the golden state freeway great location and there was a complex and gas station like 5 minutes away, so it was perfect to grab food quickly or any essentials from Target/Walmart.
Things we did:
- Griffith Observatory
This overlooks the Hollywood sign and the downtown LA, the views were amazing. You always see the LA skyline in movies/programmes and to actually be there and see it in real life was such a cool experience. There is loads of parking around, but I think you get 2 hours free if I remember correctly, most places in LA have free parking for 2 hours we did our research beforehand, parking in LA is not cheap so take advantage!
We wanted a closer look at the Hollywood sign, so we were told to drive through Hollywood hills (which was stressful because the roads were really narrow) but we made it and parked down canyon lake drive. I think you can get closer, but we didn’t know how or which route to take but this was good enough for us.
- Walk of Fame & TLC theatre
These two are must see when visiting Los Angeles, if you don’t see these then why did you even go. Just kidding ha-ha! The Hollywood walk of fame is comprised of over 2000 brass stars embedded into the sidewalk, the most famous sidewalk you will ever walk on. The TCL Chinese theatre is the most famous movie palace and holds some of Hollywood’s most elites’ hand and footprints.
- Beverly Hills
Beverly just oozes luxury, driving down rodeo drive you are surrounded by some of the most fashionable places to shop. We also saw a cupcake ATM only in Beverly hills would you see such a thing, we never got a cupcake as they were quite expensive, but I’ve heard they are amazing so maybe next time we’ll get one. We drove down sunset boulevard aka sunset strip to see the Beverly hill hotels. This hotel is known for its iconic sign which we of course had to do a photoshoot in front of, standard.
Malibu & Santa Monica Pier:
Malibu was just very a scenic place, views of the beach were so calming we just took a walk along the boardwalk, there wasn’t much to do their other than the beach and boardwalk.
Santa Monica is known for its pier, beach, shopping and food. The pier has so much going on you will never be bored, there’s also an amusement park with a huge Ferris wheel overlooking Santa Monica coastline. Because the weather was gloomy, and it was raining we didn’t get a chance to go on it but will definitely go next time!
Favourite places to eat:
There were so many amazing restaurants in LA, so many places we wanted to try but because we only there for 4 days we went with whatever was most convenient. As there was a complex near our hotel, we tried some of their restaurants such as Panda express which was Chinese food, it was really good, you can make your own bowls which I really liked. We had hook burgers which was delicious! They also had olive garden which I feel like most people have tried they have great Italian food. Panera Bread was one our favourite restaurants in America they have a selection of soups, sandwiches, paste etc. all freshly made and not pricey at all. Whilst we were in Santa Monica we decided to have dinner and we ended up finding this really rice Indian restaurant called Tumbi, the food was delicious! if you love Indian food would definitely recommend this place the food tasted so fresh and was bursting with flavour.
Jamba Juice, if you haven’t had it or heard of it and if you are going to LA, get it! They make fresh smoothies, but they are on another level so yummy! Our favourite drinks were Razzmatazz and Mango Gogo smoothies.
Next time we go back:
If we were to go back to LA we would love to do the Runyon canyon hike, its listed as one of the best hikes in Los Angeles. Whilst on this hike all you see is breath taking views of Hollywood. Food wise we really wanted to try Roscoe’s chicken and waffles, Urth Café they have a selection of organic coffee and teas. Catch LA is a seafood restaurant giving you views overlooking downtown LA and Hollywood hills.
Just recently they opened up sky slide which is a 45-foot glass slide which gives you a panoramic view of the city!
San Diego is also a must visit! The beaches down there are supposed to be amazing such as La Jolla shores, Ocean Beach, Mission beach etc.
These were the some of the places we went to in LA and would highly recommend seeing, there is so much to do in this city, if you have been and have any other suggestions or would like to share your experience, we would love to hear from you!
See you on the next post!
